Youth Christmas Program 2024  “Room For Christmas”
This year, the youth of St. James are partnering with the Pregnancy and Family Care Center of First Baptist Lsbg. We would love your help in collecting items from their “wish list” that will support local women and young children in need. We ask that items either be brought with you to the Youth Christmas program on Wednesday, Dec. 11th at 6:30 pm in the church (there is a special part for gifts during the program.) Or, please bring them on a Sunday morning, or during the week to the church office prior to the program. We are grateful for your support. The kids are very excited to help others in a necessary, tangible way.

VIDEO & DISCUSSION SERIES: “GOD CAME NEAR”
We have begun a new Advent-themed video and discussion series called “God Came Near,” with Max Lucado. We meet on Tuesdays at 6:00 pm in the Parish Hall. This discussion series emerged from our recent Alpha Course. When Alpha concluded, some of the Alpha guests wanted to continue meeting in fellowship and discipleship.  This series is a way for us to stay connected and to keep developing our spiritual formation.  Please bring your own dinner and we will eat together. We will watch each video in the 6-part series and then discuss it in small groups.     We plan to meet Tuesday evening  12/17 for our final session,  This will be a great way to prepare for and to celebrate Advent.  Please join us and invite others.  We will have a group of youth for this series, so, if you know anyone who might be interested in that, as well.   Hope to see you there! Blessings,  Dorry

“The Life and the Light of the World”
Our special Advent and Nativity study begins with the beautiful opening words of the Gospel according to John, and progressing through Matthew and Luke, we will explore the announcements of the birth, and the birth event itself. We will also look back at the prophetic promises of the coming of our Lord, particularly from Isaiah and Micah. As we read the familiar words, we will discuss the differences in description and emphasis of each account.  As always at these studies, participants are invited to question and comment while no one is ‘put on the spot’ with a direct question. Except the leader that is! I am looking forward to exploring again the event that changed the world with the fulfillment of the promise of a light that will never be extinguished in a dark world and a life that is full and eternal. Join us in the Parish Hall. Bring your own Bible because having different versions around the table frequently opens up a discussion.  Jeff Brooke-Stewart

Invite - Welcome - Connect Update

CONNECT ORIENTATION SERIES
Connecting is the process of making Newcomers feel like they belong. At St James our process involves the following:
*Contacting them,
*Being available to them
*Helping them see where they fit in within St James
*And, Tracking their status
Bob Tindall has done a super job of preparing and presenting the 3-part series,
“The History of St. James, Why We Do What We Do” for newcomers. Bob has also put together a small group of people, called “Liaison” to St. James. These Liaisons make first contact, via the mail. This small group could certainly welcome growth. If you are interested in helping with this ministry please contact Bob Tindall at (717) 575-3092. walruselecta@gmail.com

St James is part of the Stephen Ministry

WHAT IS STEPHEN MINISTRY?
Stephen Ministry offers a proven and effective way to organize, equip, and supervise a team of congregation members—called  Stephen Ministers—to provide high-quality, one-to-one, Christ-centered care to people in the congregation and the community experiencing life difficulties.
WHO ARE STEPHEN MINISTERS?
Stephen Ministers are lay congregation members trained to provide one-to-one care to those experiencing a difficult time in life, such as grief, divorce, job loss, chronic or terminal illness, or relocation.
WHAT DO STEPHEN MINISTERS DO?
After being matched with a person experiencing a life crisis, the Stephen Minister meets with that person on a weekly basis to listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support, as long as the need for care exists.
HOW CAN I BECOME A STEPHEN MINISTER?
Stephen Ministry training is typically offered once a year. The next session starts in the Fall, starting September 16, 2023. If you are interested in learning more about becoming a Stephen Minister, please contact either:
Bob Tindall (717) 575-3092 walruselect@gmail.com
Sherry Lash (706) 614-0290 sblash@protonmail.com

MEMORIAL FLOWERS
