Music Ministry
The Music Ministry at St. James Episcopal Church is a vibrant and vital part of our worship life. Opportunities for participation are available for all parishioners, from youngest to oldest, and vary throughout the year. We hope you will check out the many musical opportunities we offer, and consider how you might participate.
ST.JAMES CHOIR
Serving Christ and our church can take many forms. Music is just a small part, but an important part nonetheless. If you
like to worship through song please call or come speak with me. Our choir is a wonderful group of loving Christians who
bring their gift of music to our worship every Sunday. Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings at 7. Whether you are a novice or virtuoso
we have a place for you here at St. James. And if you don’t sing but can play an instrument- I definitely would love to speak with you.

JUBILATE (K - 5TH CHOIR) - CANTATE (6TH - 12TH EMSEMBLE)
The young musicians under the direction of Beth Williams sing durning the 10:15 Sunday worship service
once a month to the obvious pleasure of the parishioners. They also perform two special programs during
the year in addition to singing at retirement homes and assisted living facilites during the year. Rehearsals
are every Wednesday in the St Nicholas House: Cantate from 4-5PM and Jubilate from 5-6PM.
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
St. James has a wealth of instrumental talent within the parish. These musicians are encouraged to use their
gifts in worship, both as soloists and in ensemble. Both student and adult instrumentalists are welcome!
VOCAL SOLOS AND ENSEMBLES
There are opportunities throughout the year for vocalists to present solos, or participate in ensembles, for worship.
This is especially helpful during the summer months when the choir is not in session.
UKULELE MUSIC MINISTRY
The Ministry is hosted by Ralph Lambert and Birdy Connolly in the Chapel every other Monday.

SUMMER SINGING SAINTS
For the first three Sundays in August we invite anyone who would like to be a part of the choir for worship to
join in a brief Sunday morning rehearsal, and then sing an anthem for the service that day. This has become a
favorite musical experience for many of the St. James congregation who enjoy singing, but who cannot commit to
sing in the choir regularly. And some singers who join us for this “pick-up choir” have so much fun they decide
to give the choir itself a try!
